What is Micellar water?

Have you heard of Micellar water? It has been a go-to source for light, yet effective, cleansing and makeup removal.

A go-to source for makeup artists at photo shoots, brides after their big day and it works a treat after a big night out. Micellar water has the ability to get rid of makeup without the use of water and is the skincare product everyone is talking about!

Micellar Water was first originated from France and is made from micelles, which are tiny oil molecules suspended in water. I know what you’re thinking? An oily residue will be left on the skin after swiping the oil over your face? The solution doesn’t actually feel oily at all and it is even great for sensitive skin as it never stings! Rather than being made of a foaming solution that contains soaps and harsh chemicals made to grind way dirt, oil, and makeup, the small molecules in micellar waters grab onto the unwanted particles clinging to your skin and it dissolves them.

Micellar water leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth – like a toner, but excel at cleansing the skin, whilst also leaving it soft and hydrated. There’s no need to rinse after using Micellar Water, making it a skin-loving version of the traditional face wipe.

How do you use Micellar Water?

Simply squirt some micellar water onto a make-up remover pad (avoid using tissues – they’re nowhere near as effective) and gently wipe across your eye area and face until all make-up is removed. Do you know what’s even better? Dermalogica have a micellar water solution as well as a wipe solution to suit everyone!

There is no need to rinse off – however, if your skin type requires a deeper clean, follow up with your regular cleanser to give your skin that thorough clean, which we recommend for oil and acne skin types. We recommend Dermalogica’s Clearing Skin Wash.
