It can be frustrating when a switch from a trusted product like the Skin Smoothing Cream leads to breakouts. While Active Moist is designed as a lightweight, oil-free option, every skin responds differently to texture and ingredient changes. Your reaction may be linked to your skin's barrier adjusting, or simply that this formulation isn’t the right match for your skin’s current needs.
I’d absolutely recommend returning to the Skin Smoothing Cream, as it clearly works well for you and supports your skin barrier effectively. If you'd like help refining your routine or understanding why this reaction may have occurred, I’m more than happy to assist.
It's that time of year, we all need a boost, and Dermalogica's Active Moist does that for me. It's light enough not to stop my skin being able to breath in humid conditions, but provides that perfect moisturising any time of the day (or night) although I use the Intense Moisture Cream at nights~ ALSO GREAT!

I experimented with different brands over the years but got stuck with Dermalogica. They have great quality products—just like this non-greasy moisturiser. I can recommend it to people with mixed skin, prone to occasional outbreaks.
