- Always double cleanse your skin before going to bed
Cleansing is essential - but most importantly, to double cleanse.
Your first cleanse will be with Dermalogica's PreCleanse to lift dirt, grime and oil and the second cleanse with your prescribed Dermalogica cleanser to effectively and deeply cleanse your skin. If you skip this double step, you risk increasing the likelihood of breakouts and congestion.
- Try not to pick or touch your breakouts
Easier said than done, I know. Picking and squeezing your pimples will cause them to hang around for longer and continue the inflammation. It will cause more acne, more scar and more inflammation by doing it.
Healthy fruits and vegetables will provide your body with all the important vitamins for your overall health and well being. Processed foods and foods high in sugar cause our insulin levels to spike.
This causes an increase in oil, which can then potentially lead to an increase in blocked follicles, even more pimples etc.
Water helps flush toxins out of the body and this can help keep the skin looking clear.
- Choose skin care, makeup and hair care products non-comedogenic.
Some ingredients are more prone to clogging pores which can lead to an increase in breakouts.
- Get one step ahead of your hormones
If your acne is related to your monthly cycle, we suggested using a targeted product a few days prior to get on top of these pesky breakouts.
Get a good night of sleep too! While we sleep, our skin goes through its repair and rejuvenation from the day before, so sleeping well is essential for healthy skin (and body).
- Have a skin treatment or talk to a Skin Expert for help!
