There is so much information out there about skincare that we read, hear and believe. I feel that often, it's what we hear and believe, that causes us to have a misunderstanding about topics.
When it comes to the skin, there are many myths out there and I share with you the top 4. Let's take a look at each!
Myth #1
"I don't go into the sun, so I don't need sunscreen"
I would have to say this is the most common saying I hear and I wish it could be true.
Unfortunately, the Aussie climate is harsh and the sun is tough on our skin. Not only that, the 'daylight' rays are just as harmful and they damage the skin without us even realising it.
Daylight rays are known as UVA rays and are out during 'daylight hours'. These rays cause us to tan without getting burnt. They also break down our essential support structures in the skin like collagen and elastin.
We need to give our skin daily protection from these harmful UV rays to help slow down the ageing process. We always recommend if you are spending a prolonged period of time outside, reapply your sunscreen often.
- Our #1 selling susncreen
- Medium weight moisturiser with SPF50 to provide UV protection for our skin
- Peptides target firmness and stimulate collagen production
- Stimulates hydration and helps with age-related pigmentation
- Chemical-free sunscreen
- Perfect for sensitive skin
- Lightweight, sheer and blends into all skin tones
- Helps shield the skin from UV rays and blue light
Myth #2 "Doing my home care routine once a day is enough"
Life is full of commitments and I understand that some of us may find ourselves doing our home care routine just once a day or we may forget and believe it's ok.
However, our skin is the largest organ of the body and it's the most exposed to the external elements. We need to give it support and attention morning and night to ensure it's staying healthy in every way possible.
Your morning routine removes toxins/sweat that have been secreted on our skin during the night. It's also a great way to wake up the skin and get it ready for the day. This will allow your skin to be clean and ready for your serum, moisturiser and sunscreen etc for protection.
At night, we need to remove daily grime, oil, pollution and make-up so our skin can repair and rejuvenate at its best while we sleep. If you arent wearing make-up on a particular day, we must still be cleansing the skin and following with our normal skincare routine.
Sleeping with our day's accumulation of dirt and grime will speed up the ageing process, plus it doesnt make our skin feel great in the morning... and I know this because even I have slept with my make up on before and it's not a good look or feeling come morning!
At night we recommend a double cleanse. First with an oil to liquify all the grime etc off the skin. This will allow us to cleanse the skin effectively with our prescribed cleanser for our skin.

Myth #3 "Moisturising an oily skin will only make it oilier"
Oily, shiny skin - it's not the way you want your skin to look and feel right?
The common thought is that putting moisturiser on your skin will only make it oilier.
Oil forms part of our skin's barrier, which protects our skin from the harmful environment and elements around us.
On another note, if the moisture levels in the skin drop, the skin becomes dehydrated.
This dehydration can cause our oil flow to actually increase, as it tries to compensate for the lack of moisture on the skin.
Using a moisturiser at night will help keep the skin hydrated and protected and keeping your oil flow balanced.
Myth #5 "I can use my friend's skincare"
